Greta

Greta is an adventure loving cat who loves being outside.

@greta_and_herbie

We asked her mum, Krista to tell us all about them.

Tell us the story behind Greta's name.

The name Greta means pearl...as a kitten she was all white and we thought the name fit her.

What is your Greta's favourite thing to do?

Adventures!

Anything outside from walks around our neighborhood to adventures to the lake or the mountains.

Greta gets very excited racing to the door when we grab her leash.

She also loves catching flies inside:)

What kind of adventures does Greta like to go on?

We mostly take her down to the waterfront a few blocks from our house. She likes to watch the boards and meander through the park.

Having adventures close to home helps us be able to get her out more frequently.

She also loves hiking adventures where she can climb up trees but those are longer drives and less frequent.

Why did you decide to train Greta?

We live an adventurous outdoor lifestyle and knew we wanted to maintain that even with a cat.

We also knew we didn’t want to leave her behind.

We picked a more social cat from the litter hoping she would be open to knew adventures.

How did you train Greta?

We began training her from the day we got her.

Familiarizing her with the harness and leash by leaving it out and near her food and treats.

We slowly acclimated her to wearing the harness and then began taking her out close to home.

Over time she got more adventurous and began leading us farther from home when we went out.

Now she’s down for any adventure!

What has been the most rewarding part of having a catexplorer?

Being able to take her with us when we play.

It’s the best to have a furry friend with you and not having to leave her behind.

What has been the hardest?

@greta_and_herbie

Figuring out the litter box.

It’s been easier for day adventures and short hikes but harder for longer hikes and overnight trips

In hindsight, what would you do differently?

Nothing so far!

What advice would you give other humans training their catexplorers?

Slow and steady. Patience patience.

Ensuring your cat is comfortable and having a positive experience is key!
